Application Proceedure

 

Fill out the form below , and attach a brief one page resume listing the course you have taken.

Be sure that your sponsoring teacher writes a Letter of Recommendation for you , which may accompany your application or be mailed separately.  Also attach a Project Description (see below).   Send original and 3 copies of your application, project description, resume, and teacher recommendation to the SCAS office. Applications must be postmarked by May 30, 2006. Notification of acceptance will be in late July 2006.

 

Project Description

 

In order for us to assess your readiness to conduct research, we ask you to design a project in your area of interest. Send us your project description (2 pages maximum) typed double-spaced on 8 ½ x 11 white paper. Include the following:

     Statement of Purpose

     Objectives,

     Procedures you will use and equipment

     Bibliography: reading you have completed relating to your project.

 

Although a research mentor may want you to work on another project, this will give us an idea of your area of interest and background.

I am submitting my application to the Research Training Program with the understanding that, if selected, a scientist chosen to be my Mentor will supervise the project. I will spend an average of 8 hours per week (Aug.- May) to complete the project and will attend the scheduled Saturday meeting. I will submit a scientific report to my Mentor and the Academy and present the results of my project to the SCAS annual meeting in May, 2007.
